Conclusion of fieldtrip

We feel that this whole fieldtrip was a great experience as this is one of the few fieldtrips which we get to do this year. This trip was not all studies, we had lots of fun too! We met members of the public and interacted with them. This made our trip a lot more interesting. (photo insert)

For our pre-fieldtrip activity, we did research on bukit timah hill and information on soil. Unfortunately we did not think of asking the people in charge for permission to collect soil samples.

We only found out that a permit was needed to get soil in NParks territory when we talked to the customer service counter at bukit timah hill. Therefore we only “left footprints and took pictures”.

After the fieldtrip, we went to ask for a permit but in vain. Our request was silently rejected when our correspondence from the NParks did not reply our emails. (The copy of emails we sent and received can be found in our folder).

However, we decided to improvise and get soil from outside NParks grounds. We got it from the bottom of a slope near the rainforest area and analyzed it. Thankfully, the results were satisfying and helped us a lot.
